Hello,

I use the kitware apt repository: [https://apt.kitware.com/](https://apt.kitware.com/)

Just today, I noticed I can no longer run apt-get update.

 sudo apt-get update

Others at my company have seen this too on both work and personal machines on different networks.

It’s not down, but the HTTPS cert is for the wrong domain. The error message I get when viewing with Firefox is:

> # Warning: Potential Security Risk Ahead
>
> […]
>
> Websites prove their identity via certificates. Firefox does not trust this site because it uses a certificate that is not valid for `apt.kitware.com`. The certificate is only valid for the following names: `vtk.org`, `www.vtk.org` Error code: SSL\_ERROR\_BAD\_CERT\_DOMAIN

So the cert is for `vtk.org`, not `apt.kitware.com`. Someone goofed their Let’s Encrypt scripts I guess.
