Hmm. This is news to us. AFAIK, it is working as expected, though multilib or multiarch installations could certainly confuse it. Note that cross-compilation is _not_ supported at the moment (see [this issue](https://gitlab.kitware.com/cmake/cmake/-/issues/20753)). Could you please file an issue about what is going on? @kyle.edwards
