# Cannot start CMake GUI on Windows 8.1

Cannot start CMake GUI on Windows 8.1. It says cannot find d3d12.dll.

Starting with CMake 4.3, the minimum Windows version for the official CMake binaries is Windows 10. This was mentioned in the [CMake 4.3 release notes](https://cmake.org/cmake/help/latest/release/4.3.html#other-changes).
